NMITA will contain specimen information for: (a) specimens illustrated in NMITA, (b) primary types, and (c) voucher specimens from selected non-NMITA localities. Primary types and voucher specimens are included, because of their utility in identification and documenting the temporal and spatial distributions of taxa. Lots, specimens, and specimen components are designated in the NMITA model as subtypes following the ASC model. Catalog numbers will be linked to detailed repository information, and confidency codes will be available for identifications. A unique set of morphologic measurements will be assigned to each class in the taxonomic hierarchy, and used to provide scales on photos.
