8. Corallite diameter (click here for a definition of corallite diameter) and coenosteum texture (Click here for a definition of coenosteum). You may need a hand lens to see this.

• Small (<1.5 mm); porous coenosteum;  no columella.
• Small (<1.5 mm); prominent styliform columella; septa in cycles of 8 or 10.
• Medium (1.5-10 mm); solid coenosteum texture.
